EU Revises 2025 CO2 Emission Benchmarks
According to the Council, the updated regulation will evaluate automakers' adherence to emission limits for 2025, 2026, and 2027 based on an average over three years rather than year-by-year assessments.
This move arrives as European carmakers grapple with mounting demands to reduce carbon output while facing fierce global rivalry and the EU's ambitious objective to achieve zero-emission road transport by 2050.
The revised regulation is set to take effect 20 days following its publication in the EU's Official Journal.
