Drone Strikes Largest Energy Facilities in Southern Iraq

(MENAFN) The Majnoon oil field, one of southern Iraq’s largest energy sites, was reportedly targeted in a drone attack, according to local reports.

The facility, located east of Basra, was struck by two drones, as stated by reports. No information has been released yet regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.

The incident comes amid intensified regional tensions following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28, reportedly killing around 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes against Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations, reportedly focusing on sites hosting US military assets.
