Trump Says US Replenished Its Weapons Stockpiles During Iran Ceasefire

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States used the temporary ceasefire with Iran to rebuild its weapons stockpiles, while alleging that Tehran likely took similar steps and has been moving missiles during the pause in hostilities.

In remarks to media, Trump stated he was “ready to go” with renewed strikes if negotiations fail to produce a signed agreement. He also voiced confidence that both sides would eventually secure a “great deal,” one he said would surpass the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Trump further claimed that the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel TOUSKA, intercepted Sunday by US forces after allegedly ignoring blockade instructions, was transporting what he called a “gift from China.” The ship remains under US custody, according to US Central Command, which confirmed the seizure. China has not responded to the allegation.

On financial diplomacy, Trump said a potential currency swap with the United Arab Emirates is “under consideration,” describing the Gulf nation as “a good country.”

The president also said the current two-week ceasefire—set to expire Wednesday evening in Washington—has been violated by Iran “numerous times.” He warned earlier that extending the truce was “highly unlikely” without a prior agreement.

Separately, US Vice President JD Vance, along with envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is expected to travel to Islamabad for a new round of negotiations. Iran has not confirmed participation, insisting that lifting the US naval blockade is a precondition for talks.
